WOD 23/4/12 _monday

First of all a big thank you to all those that came from the gym yesterday and competed (first time or repeat campaigners), those that lent a hand with the many many tasks of the day and extra special thanks to the guys that went above and beyond – Christine on the scoralator 4000, Kev on multimedia, Richo running two soundsystems, Col for ridiculous mad crazy amounts of work getting all the events set up and Adam as well for making sure everything was A) at the venue and b) setup and good to go and Lauren for generally helping out with everything! (and taking 342435 photos which will be up on the www.thephototree.com.au soon) Without all the help the event simply doesnt happen, thanks again for another awesome comp.

That said everything is back to normal today (well close to considering most of the gym was shifted over the course of the weekend), Wednesday however is a public holiday and there will be just one class at 8am.

Workout

6 rounds for distance and reps
1min row
max KB floor press
rest 3min between rounds

Another great event yesterday. Always warms the cockles of my heart to see how much time and effort CFA people are prepared to put it to make these events happen, with no reward and little thanks. Ben’s ability to organise these events is a modern wonder, and he deserves a massive pat on the back for it. The amount of logisitics and general organisation is hours upon hours, and should not be under-appreciated.

Best performance of the day should go to Ben U on the tire pull/drag WOD. I rekon with the ratio of weight to body weight, he worked harder than anyone else across all divisions. This would be closely followed by Pieter on the last skills WOD – Piet glidded through that like a stick of butter down a slip and slide, poetry in motion.
Nice work by everyone that had a crack. Amanda rocking on, taking out RX women once again.

It was awesome to watch everyone compete. So awesome, I might have to actually join in at some stage and give the comp a go. Well done to CFA and CFEA :-) (and the other boxes too ;-)

Ben: great venue, good set-up, interesting WODs. Made for an excellent comp.

Ditto everything Steve said. (hehe…he said ‘cockles’.)

Also mad props to everyone who stepped up to do a crossfit throwdown for the first time: Tania, Jaz, Kirsty, Lisa & anyone else i’ve forgotten. Swallowing the nerves and giving it a go, well done.

Awesome fun. Hope the wall makes another appearance down the track so I can give it another crack, those tyres can go get fucked though.

Thanks Ben and everyone involved, thanks everyone who cheered me on, especially in the row of death. Crossfit is a community like no other, fucking amazing people doing fucking amazing things and having a fucking amazing time doing it!

    Today: 269/14 // 261/13 // 267/11 // 257/9 // 257/9 // 266/10

Sunday: Felt like a tiny field mouse, being chased down by a lion, crushed and played around with, but at the end managed to climb up its back and bit its nose and limped away into the tall grass.

For mine, highlights were Jules and Ian on the snatches. Amanda looked super careful, but showed that consistency wins every time. Open men was the most competitive to date.

:) it was great to watch everyone give it a go. I’m always terrified prior and whilst competing, but love the fact that I always can rely on the support of others to help me push me through my fears and anxiety. Their support allows me the confidence to draw on my own strengths.

    Thankyou
